You know how when you love something, it's on
your mind all the time? It permeates everything else you do in some way, and
inevitably, you work your way back to working on what you love. In my case,
that's writing!
Whether
I'm sitting in front of my kids' school waiting to pick them up, having coffee
with a friend or just enjoying a family meal, I guarantee you something is
going to happen where I'll think, "I should write about that!" Now,
whether all those thoughts make it on to paper is another thing entirely, but
they start out with great intentions.
Last night was an exception. I had something on my mind
so strongly that I literally had to get out of bed and go write it
down. I knew I would hate myself today if I just let it slide away, and
sometimes it can be therapeutic to get your personal thoughts on paper, even if
you're the only one who reads them later. Have you ever had that experience?
I'd love to hear about it below in the comments.
One thing that has really helped me is to make sure that whatever purse I'm carrying-that there is always room for a pen and a pad of paper. This way, I can make a quick note about whatever I'm thinking and I don't have to worry about forgetting it later on. Let me tell you too that some of those quick thoughts are really funny later on, because I usually put down only about half of what goes thru my head, knowing that just reading it later is going to jog my memory. If anyone else ever read through those notes, they'd probably recommend a day or two in the psych ward!

The good news is that because I can't stop writing, and nor do I want to, this paper and pen idea has saved me quite a few times. My husband has gotten used to the idea of me quickly grabbing it out of my purse and jotting down something in the middle of a conversation and he usually just lets it slide at this point, without commentary. Although the urgency in my voice when I say, "One sec!" has caused him to arch an eyebrow or two!
Well, there it is, that's a short, quick picture of who I am and what I do, but if you want to check out the more professional side of me, that's at MissWordy. That's where I do all my book reviews, highlight authors and share some cool writing tips that might help you. Check it out and let me know what you think--please comment below!
